Sagrada Familia

These are some pictures from the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona also designed by Gaudi. the inside and outside are still unfinished after 100 years. plans are to open the inside in 2010 (not close to being ready yet) and finish the rest by 2030. Amazing!
View from up in one of the towers.

This is what it eventually will look like. estimated to be complete in 2030 with 18 spires.

View looking down from up in the spire. Raymond was brave enough to take this picture.

The model shop in the church that they use to help with construction.

Another picture by Raymond looking upward. the walls curve in.

Pete, I know how much you like scaffolding in your pictures so this one's for you:)

Inside the church.

From up in one of the spires.

The front entrance to the church.

Front of church
And of course, the Bar Sagrada Familia across the street.

Barcelona

I did rotate these before i blogged them but it didn't take so you'll have to turn sideways. I (Jeana) am in Barcelona for a business trip for a week and these are some of the sights we saw on Sunday. It's a beautiful city with lots to see, good food and is easy to get around.
This is Casa Batllo which is a house designed by Gaudi. There is not a straight line in the whole house. Absolutely amazing. So much going on but it all works.
The below picture is of the door to the elevator shaft.

This is the outside courtyard behind the house.
This entire wall is on a system of weights and pulleys and opens upward.
This is the same wall from the outside.

Room in the loft floor of the house.

Pete, this is probably my best picture:)
the roof of the Casa Batllo. those are chimneys.
